This is a proposed motion of no confidence in two committee members.
We, the Kent Computing Society, have no confidence in our elected President (Andy Cousins) and Treasurer (Phil Stevens).
We believe their behaviour is immature and will bring our society into disrepute.
The following is a list of reasons to back up our claim:
- Andy and Phil have exhibited a horrific lack of judgement in announcing they want Compsoc to host "adult material". This is a disgusting misuse of Society resources and is a clear violation of University of Kent Regulations. If Compsoc votes to go and ask the Computing Service if we can host adult material the reputation of Compsoc will be seriously damaged, and it will ruin our chances at ever getting the department on our side.
Further, by bringing the society into disrepute (due to a Computing Service staffer already informing us network connections will be removed if this goes ahead) Andy and Phil are already in direct breach of section 11.2 of the Constitution.
- The President and Treasurer have both failed to do anything except cause arguments.
- The Secretary has so far had to perform the role of both President and Treasurer due to the lack of work from the President and Treasurer.
- The President has openly admitted that in order to be elected he brought all his "mates" along in order to join and vote for him. He effectively rigged the election to make him win. This is clearly wrong.
Please add to this list if you have reasons why.
We believe that Andy Cousins should no longer be considered the elected President and Phil Stevens should no longer be considered the elected Treasurer. We believe an election should now take place to elect a new President and Treasurer and we further believe that Andy Cousins and Phil Stevens should not be allowed to stand in those elections.
