Dear freshers,
We hope you're enjoying your new life at the University of Kent!
Firstly we would like to thank you for your interest and support with the University of Kent Computing Society (Compsoc). Most of you came down to our stall at Freshers Fair and know a bit about what we do already. The society represents a diverse range of individuals with the common interests related to Computers and Computing. Many of our members also study Computer Science and related degrees, many do not.
The society has a wiki-powered website at http://www.compsoc.co.uk detailing everything thats going on, so definitely keep a regular look out for updates.
We also run our own university-wide chat service (KentIRC) which gives everyone the opportunity to meet others at the University and stay in touch with friends (and even organise a spot of campus network gaming). KentIRC is also used by a number of other societies including Skydiving, Anime, and the Rock and Metal Society. We also hope to see everyone at our first society meeting <INSERT DETAILS>. For those studying Computer Science and related subjects we are also sending a couple of representatives to the department introductory session to give you another opportunity to get involved with the society.
