(This is a constitutional amendment.)
This Society notes that section 8.6 of the constitution currently says:
- 8.6 Any Member may abstain from voting. Any Committee member who cannot be present at a vote may nominate a Member to vote in their place.
This Society believes that:
- This was a bug that crept into the final version of the constitution -- it's meant to enable proxy voting for everyone but only did it for committee members. Since we've got members who're on years out overseas, everybody ought to be able to proxy vote.
This Society resolves to change section 8.6 to:
- 8.6 Any Member may abstain from voting. Any Member who cannot be present at a vote may nominate a Member to vote in their place.
i.e. change "Committee member" to "Member".
Proposed by Adam Sampson, seconded by Michael Barnwell.
