This Society notes:
1. Section 8.3 of the Constitution:
- "Members shall vote upon each Motion one week after its
submission. The vote may be conducted electronically or at an SGM, at the discretion of the Committee. Votes upon Motions taken to an SGM should be preceded by a brief oral summary of the Motion by the proposing and seconding Members."
This Society believes:
1. That this section can be interpreted to leave nil flexibility in the time before a vote on a motion must take place, and that this can cause the unwanted effect of forcing an electronic vote to occur just days before an SGM, and, 2. That this section sets no time period for an electronic vote.
This Society resolves:
1. To change Section 8.3 of the Constitution to:
- "If a motion is submitted between 2 weeks and 1 week before an
SGM, the motion will be voted on at the SGM. Otherwise, electronic voting will commence 1 week after the publication to the members of the motion, and will cease 2 full working days later."
Proposed by Oliver Cole, seconded by Timothy Donovan.
